Ranger Web – Intro
Sunday, June 12th, 2011
Watch on iPad/iPhone.
Intro movie for the Ranger Web DotNetNuke screencast series at www.DNNRanger.com.
Music not by me.
This will be the last but one short intro movie that I’m gonna publish for a while. After the next video it’s going to be back to the weird, crazy and nonsensical shorts that I want to make. Expect possible even some live action short narritives in the future which will be produced alongside creating my animated feature. To keep my video sharp.

Yoast Screen Cast Intro
Friday, August 27th, 2010
Watch on iPad/iPhone.
Here is an intro video i produced for the new Yoast Screen Casts. The first episode went live recently so i thought i’d post it up. The video introduces the general concept of Yoast.com and the new screen casts, improving your site = more traffic. Capping off with a 3d logo animation and colourful light – background.
Today’s the 27th of August 2010, which is an important day for me.. as it is a year since committing to making my feature film. I’m at a place with it at the moment where everything is going to plan, and i will start hitting it full steam ahead after the script consultation. I’d like if possible to get the character/location designs and voice actor recordings all done by 2011. It’s a bit ambitious.. but we’ll see how it goes. Stay tuned for the new film site launching on October 1st this year. It will promise to have alot of cool updates with a minimum of 1 post a week (likely more on certain weeks though). This year and the next should be fun.

3D Adventures
Sunday, April 25th, 2010
A couple of 3D abstracts of recent. I’ve gotten into the habit more and more of opening 3d software and just playing with the different tools and seeing what they do. Soon hoping to branch out into creating environments and buildings for long camera pans and other visuals i have for the film, and otherwise. I have also been toying with the idea of using it as a compositing application with pre-made 2d animation and 3 dimensional stylised objects.
Some crazy stuff has been happening recently, i’ll elaborate more later.

Lamnidae
Saturday, August 29th, 2009
A short experiment in 3d and after effects. Put together in 2 days, just playing around with cinema 4d’s after effects integration and also combining particular with that of 3d footage.
Audio improvised and recorded by me.

Rhonda 3D Drawing Tool
Saturday, August 15th, 2009
Rhonda is a new tool that allows you to draw in 3D space, it is currently undergoing beta testing. I signed up and downloaded my beta .dmg to give it a try, and it’s really nice. The tool is really exciting, in the sense that 3D in the future has the potential of having a new hand drawn aesthetic that is hard to achieve when drawing mainly consists of adjusting parameters and corner points. It’s hard to come up with something that isn’t polished and has that ‘computer made’ feel. Alot can be said for the beauty of human imperfection.
I see this tool among other areas being really interesting in the animation field. I’d like to see some of the ‘Awkward’ style of some British animation cross over into the 3d realm, see if it could work in that format and how would it look?
I’ve tried the beta using just a keyboard and my Wacom tablet. I’d be interested in trying the software in the near future using a touch screen or Cintiq as is shown in the opening video over at the Rhonda website (much better example of the software’s capabilities than mine).
As for feature hopes, i’d home to see the ability to export to all the main 3D softwares Maya, Cinema 4D etc… Also perhaps a snapping option to the points of a previously drawn path, the ability to select paths and link to others and some bezier handles for fine adjustments.
All in all this is a really cool development, looking forward to seeing the progress and updates of the software. Go check it out and sign-up at RhondaForever.com.
